Mrs. Potato Head- Melanie Martinez
Little girls are learning how to cut-n-paste....
Ego and Vanity the two things that drive this society. It is very difficult to not fall into ego traps since they are everywhere. Seeking enlightenment and your higher self requires you to get rid of the ego and serve for your soul. I use to ambition riches and a lavish lifestyle to “stunt” on people who once talked bad on my name. I wanted to darken my soul with grudges, competition, hate and greed to prove to those who dislike me anyway that I am “successful” and that I am “happy”. But what is true happiness and does monetary success really make you happy? Well who ever tells you money doesn’t buy happiness is a liar, money isn’t bad it’s the greed that kills you. When you begin to let the money change you and your material possessions define you that is when you begin to lose your soul for your ego. The ego is temporary pleasure and boosting your ego will not fill any voids. It is soul crushing to see how many people make a living off of the insecurities of others. The plastic surgery industry is booming right now because you have all these “Instagram Models” and Beauty “Gurus” promoting lip injections and surgeries. I posted my favorite music video for this blog post because I love the message behind it. I remind you, this is my perspective to each their own if altering your image empowers you then more power to you! They say beauty is pain but how far are some willing to go for vanity? You have men on social media swimming in debt to maintain their appearances. Relationships aren’t the same due to all these trust issues and this everyone is disposable mentality. Men think that if they look like money with will attract the honey...ironic. We live in a society that is teaching young children that girls must look like barbies in order to be beautiful and that men need to treat girls like their barbies by spoiling them in lavish things. The illusion they are selling is all unrealistic. The consumer market is meant to keep you coming back for more and more. Give them your money and they will continue to make products to temporary satisfy you with. Video game collectors, makeup junkies, sneaker heads, but how many collect books? How many are really interested in making an impact for our future generations? It seems like this generation lost interest in anything that has depth. We like things that are quick and easy. We follow trends without questioning them. My uncles always make fun of me for buying ripped jeans which is very true why am I paying full price for something that is ripped? Because I too try to follow trends that’s why...ego traps! It’s difficult to focus on the bigger picture with all these distractions and the subliminal messages given to us through the media. When I began awakening I began to realize how much energy I was putting into meaningless things, how much importance I gave things that don’t have any value. I really don’t think I can ever go back to my old egoistic mindset, my goals are still as big and my ambition grows every day however I want to make a difference in society. I don’t want to stunt, I don’t want to floss or put others down. I want to live for my soul and not for my ego. Material possessions will come to me effortlessly because law of attraction is a very fun law to use, and I know that I will be successful and manifest my dreams but it will not be at the expense of my soul. Social media is crowded with egos, people who don’t like you but stalk you like vultures, people who envy your life without even knowing you personally. It always trips me out to see how society makes people rich and famous to then idolize them as if they aren’t in that position thanks to the “little people” per say. That’s just how life is I guess so I’ll stick to getting mine and telling my story living my life however it feels best for my spirit. Thank you all for vibing with me and reading my long random rants. I appreciate all feedback and unconditional support!
